A Word from Pastor Tim
Can it be true that this summer is almost over? As I think about how fast time goes
I can't help but think we need to take advantage of every opportunity to share God's
love and truth. Our time and opportunities do not last long. As this summer draws to
a close, I encourage you to take advantage of what we have left.
Enjoy your family while you can. Don't miss out on the precious opportunities to make
memories together while you can. Our church has several opportunities for service as
well. Our nominating committee is doing well. Praise the Lord, people have been quite
willing to serve when contacted. This is a good sign for the moral of our church
family.
It is also time to focus on getting our school off to a great start. The indicators
are there for a really good school year. Jordan Lindsey our new teacher/principal,
has moved into the area and our whole school staff is really feeling like a team.
Their moral is high. We are having more students than expected talk to us about
coming to school at our school. Our school staff is hoping that it will not be long
until we can add back the 3rd teacher position that we lost last year. We appear to
be in the beginning of a great year. We still need your help though. Keep praying for
our school staff and families. Encourage anyone you know to consider Eagle Adventist
Christian because we believe that it is on the upswing. We also need people to give
to our student aid fund to make it possible for students with financial challenges
to come to our school. Please let the pastor, school or church office know what you
will be giving monthly or as a onetime gift. It is important for us to know the
pledged amounts because we use that amount to know how much aid we can give. Together
we can make a difference in young lives but we need to act now before this school
begins.
In September Russell Burrill from the Andrews University, Institute of evangelism
will be conducting training and inspiration to help us became more of a lay driven
movement. He will be sharing how the growth rates for SDA churches go down when the
number of pastors goes up. All around the world our growth rates are better when
pastor's have many churches per pastor. When a pastor has 5 to 50 churches the
members know that they need to be involved, the pastor cannot run the church. When
people invest themselves growth goes up. Russell has been studying how to get our
North American churches to become more lay driven. These meetings come at a great
time for our Eagle church. With me doing more prophetic seminar evangelism around
the conference we need to be a lay driven church, I as pastor really can't run it
all. This is a perfect time for this training to be available. We need many of our
lay leaders to attend these meetings and then brainstorm together how we can
implement what we learn. Do you want to be a part of this team that attends this
training, and helps to improve our church? If you do, please contact the pastor or
the church office to volunteer. The meetings will be held at Gem State Adventist
Academy on Friday evening September 24, (7:30 p.m.) and all day on Sabbath
September 25, (probably till about 5:00 p.m.).
The summer is getting away fast but please make sure we don't let these wonderful
ministry opportunities get away. Pastor Tim
